“Ted liked the bridge… In a storm the wind blew through it, the water washed over it without damage, and nature accepted it as one of its own.”

Parks and Recreational Projects

After graduating from the University of California at Berkeley and the Ecoledes Beaux Arts in Paris, Ted and his wife, Jeanette, were appointed as the Park Architect and Artist Consultant, respectively, for Yosemite National Park and the Curry Company. This modest beginning initiated our firm’s long involvement in preparing master plans and designing facilities for local, state, and national parks.

Our projects have encompassed all aspects of park development including the design of site utilities and roads, gate houses, trails, restroom and shower facilities, visitor centers, guest accommodations, employee housing, maintenance facilities, and the preparation of master plans for future expansion.

Local clients have included the cities of Palo Alto, Los Altos, Mountain View, Sunnyvale, and the County of Santa Clara; state clients have included California, Nevada, Utah, and New York; federal clients have included the National Park Service, U.S. Forest Service, Fish & Wildlife Service, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation, and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. In addition, we have also worked with park concessionaires including ARA, Del Webb, Fred Harvey, Grand Teton Lodge Company, TW Services, Western States Management, and Yosemite Concession Services Corporation.
